Ho l’impressione che spesso ci autodipingiamo come un paese sputacchiato dal mondo, nonché additati come un popolo di mangiaspaghetti pizza e mandolino, quando in realtà nello scacchiere internazionale ci viene riconosciuto un ruolo di primo piano, e gli apprezzamenti e le simpatie non mancano mai nei nostri confronti.
Ad esempio, in questi giorni Berlusconi è stato in Russia, dove ha incontrato Putin e Medvedev. L’obiettivo della visita è stato da un lato quello di siglare l’accordo su South Stream, il gasdotto che collegherà l’Europa mediterranea ai giacimenti della Siberia e del Mar Caspio, e dall’altro ha riguardato questioni diplomatiche, configurandosi come tentativo di aprire una nuova stagione nei rapporti tra Cremlino, Nato, Casa Bianca e Unione Europea. Come sappiamo, dopo la crisi con la Georgia, la Russia ha ridotto i rapporti con gli Stati Uniti e con la Nato, e di recente la tensione ha cominciato a rialzarsi da quando i soldati dell’Alleanza Atlantica hanno intrapreso manovre di esercitazione nel Caucaso. Avendo mantenuto contatti strategici col Cremino, il premier italiano cerca ora di guidare il processo di distensione, anche in prospettiva degli eventi previsti per il luglio prossimo, ossia la visita a Mosca del presidente americano Obama e il G8 dell’Aquila, che sarà un’altra tappa che ci vedrà impegnati in un ruolo di primo piano. Per quanto riguarda l’Unione Europea si è auspicato che il leader italiano possa avere un ruolo di mediazione tra Mosca e Bruxelles. Medvedev ha poi confermato il suo impegno alla ricostruzione di alcuni beni artistici in Abruzzo, cosa che faranno anche gli Stati Uniti e si spera anche altri paesi.
A proposito del G8 dell’Aquila, ho l’impressione che qui in particolar modo si prepari una situazione alquanto spiacevole, quella che ci vedrà ancora una volta (come opinione pubblica nostrana) ignari del nostro ruolo internazionale, e tutti presi da questioni secondarie, incentrate su una visione dell’incontro tra i “Big” come fenomeno di costume ed evento gossipparo, oltre che oggetto di canzonatura e di contestazione fine a se stessa.
I primi commenti mi danno conferma di quell’atteggiamento distruttivo di cui parlavo, secondo cui il nostro paese vale zero, cosa assolutamente falsa. E mi sembra che quest’atteggiamento venga ulteriormente fomentato da certo modo di fare opposizione, tutto rivolto alla denigrazione del premier e del suo governo, anche a costo di gettare fango sull’Italia e sul suo ruolo nel mondo.
